Help During Ambercon US
So I am making plans on getting to ACUS and surviving while there. For those who don't know I am having some minor kidney issues, and by that I mean complete renal failure. It shouldn't be an issue, my doctor has cleared me to travel and to spend some time away from the dialysis chair. I also located the nearest hospital to the con with a dialysis unit, it is about a 1/2 hour drive from the hotel, maybe less. And there's the rub. Curgoth and I will be without a car. I know it's a lot to ask but on the off chance I need a treatment would it be possible to get one of you fine people to drive me to said hospital? And pick me up 2-4 hours later? I would try and arrange things to the driver wouldn't miss their game, ie leave during lunch return during dinner. If anyone is willing to help out a poor sickly Canadian let me know. Ambercon North 2010 This is a very real possibility for me! Is anyone else from Southeast lower Michigan planning on going for sure? I would like to carpool and help defray costs to make this happen. Please let me know ASAP.
Also, I tried to post this to the Amber-list but it bounced twice. Is this related to Sol's move by any chance?
*ETA - I see nuadha_prime is thinking about going on Friday & coming back Sunday. I would like to go Thursday & return Monday if at all possible.
Thanks. Ray~ Current Mood: hopeful | | Sunday, January 31st, 2010 | 1:38 pm [acus_gamebook]

ACUS 2010 Game Submissions needed!
Hello everyone! Ambercon US 2010 / XXI is getting closer! We've got 68 people registered, which is lower than normal, and we're short 15 or more games, depending on how many people register late. If you're a regular or recent attendee, well, you know what the deal is. :) We understand we've crunched the timeline, and we apologize for rushing people, but... If you haven't been to Ambercon US in a while, or ever, please register and/or submit your games soon. The game scheduling and selection is different than it was years ago, and different from most other rpg conventions. The entire reason for ACUS is to play games all weekend long, so we need enough games for everyone in all game slots. We hope to post the gamebook in three weeks, so that everyone can choose what games they want to play in. Then we'll use those choices to assign people to games. Last year, 90% of the game assignments were 1st choices, about another 8% were 2nd choices. Then we like the players and GMs to have two to four weeks before the con to prepare characters and scenarios. So clearly, we need the basic game information in advance. ALL and ANY Amber-related (in ANY way) games are very, very welcome, no matter how different from the game(s) depicted in the Amber and Shadow Knight rulebooks. No matter how traditional or strange or non-mainstream your Amber game is, it's welcome and you'll find enthusiastic players. You will likely be very surprised at the range of Amber games that are available. (For example, this year there are two Amber/Exalted games, and two Firefly and one Venture Bros. game(s) that will be run with rules/mechanics similar to the ADRPG.) Small single-session LARPs are common, based either on the Amber setting or using the ADRPG rules and/or techniques. Any and all diceless games are also welcome, Nobilis, Primetime Adventures, or ANY kind of free-form game that doesn't use dice, cards, or other randomizers. PTA is a favorite game of many attendees, as are games based on the Everway fortune deck. There's also a strong (if small in some years) Indie RPG presence, a homebrew 2d6 system for WWII games, Amberized games based on Dogs in the Vineyard, In a Wicked Age, the Mountain Witch, Sea Dracula, Spirit of the Century, and many others have been played in recent years. If you're curious or would like more information, please visit the Ambercon website, http://www.ambercon.com or some of the places where other Ambercon attendees gather online: * The old school Amber mailing list: amber@logrus.org , email colomon@ralf.org to subscribe * The LiveJournal Ambercon community: http://community.livejournal.com/ambercon/* The LiveJournal Amber Diceless community: http://community.livejournal.com/adrpg/* Ambercon XXI on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=145127281135* Amber Diceless at Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=246681395467* There are frequent conversations about amber on rpg.net ( http://forum.rpg.net/forumdisplay.php?f=3) and therpgsite.com ( http://www.therpgsite.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29) Thanks and Best Wishes, Ambercon US 2010 | | Friday, January 29th, 2010 | 8:27 am [a2macgeek]

Fred Hicks ( @fredhicks), one of the guys who runs Evil Hat, on Twitter today: I continue to pine after the rights to the Amber RPG for Evil Hat. There. I said it. If only! It'd be nice to have something actually happen with an Amber RPG, especially if it's done by a company like Evil Hat. | | Wednesday, August 19th, 2009 | 8:59 am [simonepdx]

AmberCon NW - November 5-8, 2009 Hi all! The AmberCon NW site is open for registration for this year's convention. For the 13th year, we are returning to the gorgeous and hospitable McMenamin's Edgefield Bed and Breakfast Resort in Troutdale, Oregon, just 30 minutes outside Portland and 15 minutes from the Portland International Airport (PDX). There are many different room styles and rates at the Edgefield, so register soon! The most popular types sell out quickly. I am looking forward to seeing all the new and returning faces this year! --simone Organizer, AmberCon NW | | Wednesday, May 6th, 2009 | 12:42 pm [rvdammit]

Ambercon UK is on this year, completely forgot to post here, so apologies for the late notice. Didn't think to post here (with prodding) till I heard the people who have committed to ACUK was a lower than the minimum needed to avoid penalties from the hotel. | | Sunday, May 3rd, 2009 | 2:58 pm [harleqwn]

Twibe (Twitter group) for Amber
I've created a Twibe (stupid Twitter vocab) for Amber that all are welcome to join, or not. :-) I'm new at this but here goes... http://twibes.com/amberdicelessrpg As I've discovered "amber" often results in amber alerts for missing children so I thought I would just spell the whole thing out in the hopes that a search would maybe find it easier this way. I don't know if it will work on not. -David- | | Friday, April 24th, 2009 | 4:49 pm [harleqwn]

Amber social connections
Who would like to share their gaming/amber twitter or other social media info? My Twitter name is: shadowwars Can't seem to find any #amber Twitter feeds?!? I am known as David Miessler-Kubanek on Facebook, however, I don't use Facebook for gaming due to my career connections there. I do send private messages for gaming if needed. :-) Would like to find a good Gaming social site without all the fluff of Facebook. Even one focused on Amber would be good enough for now. I'm not on MySpace. I've posted a question to the ACUS forums about multimedia and one the other day about the Amber community. Not sure if that's where to post or discuss such things but there you go. Been gaming since the 1980's. Been GMing Amber for close to 20 years. Online gaming since the mid 1990's. Getting back into convention gaming again and looking for more Amber players and GMs to chat with. :-) Thanks! -David- | | Monday, March 30th, 2009 | 6:52 pm [a2macgeek]
